Signs and symptoms vary based on the drug taken but many include loss of consciousness, change in breathing or heart rate, and nausea or vomiting. You should always call 911. While waiting, try figuring out what substance it was from by asking bystanders.

AlcoholAlcohol poisoning is usually caused by binge drinking. It affects the central nervous system. Signs and symptoms include loss of consciousness, slow or irregular breathing, vomiting, seizures and hypothermia. Call 911 and put the person in the recovery position and keep airways clear until EMS arrives

Carbon MonoxideTo prevent carbon monoxide poisoning, make sure ventilation systems are clear and outdoor equipment only runs outdoors. Signs and symptoms include drowsiness, confusion, headache, dizziness, weakness, and nausea or vomiting. Get the person fresh air and medical attention immediately by calling 911. Remove the person from the room if you can do so without endangering yourself.
